Charles is a transactional and cyber security and data privacy lawyer. In the transactional context, he focuses his practice on domestic aspects of cross-border transactions, acquisitions, disposals, restructurings, financing and refinancing. Charles heads the cyber security and data privacy team in Brussels. In that field, Charles is active in a number of sectors (hospitality, financial & insurance, travel platforms, aviation, infrastructures) and a range of practices (advising clients on global data privacy and security issues, assisting in dealing with data breaches, counseling on regulatory developments, data privacy aspects of employee’s monitoring and investigations, data collection and exchanges in the context of export control). He is regularly in contact with data protection authorities around Europe and represented clients in front of the Working Party No. 29 (now EDPB). Charles regularly publishes articles and is invited as speaker on such topics.
Before joining Mayer Brown in 2007, Charles built his experience in a Belgian private law practice and a consulting firm in Belgium and Luxembourg. He also served as Structurer in the Credit Derivatives desk of Fortis Bank.
